These brooches are made by the repurposing of antique steel bedsprings. The ambiguous shape of the spring (not quite a circle, not quite a square) becomes a frame to the textile which it attaches to. The twisted knot is an original detail of the bedspring which hints at the malleability of steel when heated, becoming pliable like string. As a textile artist, Isabel is drawn to this interplay of mediums. Each Bedspring Brooch is hand finished with a steel pin and clasp.
